Why We Pray

There is power in prayer according to James 5:16-18 The prayer of a person living right with God is something powerful to be reckoned with.  


Example of powerful praying:  Elijah was a man with a nature like ours, and he prayed fervently that it might not rain, and for three years and six months it did not rain on the earth.  Then he prayed again, and heaven gave rain, and the earth bore its fruit.


We are told to devote ourselves to prayer.  Colossians 4:2


Husbands and wives are to devote themselves to prayer. 1 Corinthians 7:5


His house will be called a House of Prayer for all nations... Mark 11: 17


We pray because Prayerlessness is a sin.


We pray because prayer helps us to discern God's will.


We  pray because Jesus left us an example to seek the face of God the Father.  If it was important for Jesus to spend all night in prayer and to get up early in the morning for prayer...we must surely follow his example and pray.


Jesus constantly set the tone of his day by prayer.


The disciples asked Jesus to teach them to pray.

Men ought always to pray and not lose heart. A parable don't give up!


Prayer is an invitation to join in the work of God behind the scene on our knees.

Pray for Pastors

1. Pray that pastors may proclaim God's word clearly, as they  should

2. Pray that every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace. Eph 4:3

3. That God would teach pastors his Word. Psalm 119:12b, "

4. That God would not hide his Word from pastors. Psalm 119:19b,

5. That God would make pastors able to understand his Word. Psalm 119:27, 

6. That God would incline pastors hearts to his Word. Psalm 119:36, 

7. That God would give pastors life to keep his Word. Psalm 119:88, 

8. That God would establish the steps of pastors in his Word. Psalm 119:133, 

9. That God would seek pastors when they  go astray from his Word.   Psalm 119:176, 

10. That God would will give them singleness of heart and action so that they will always fear God for their own good and the good of their children after them.

Praying For Needs To Be Met

Phil 4:6.........."Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let you requests be   made known to God; ..."

2Cor 9:10........."...may He who supplies seed to the sower, and bread for food,
supply and multiply the seed you have sown and increase the
fruits of your righteousness, ..."

Ps. 20:4.........."...may He grant you according to your hearts desire, and fulfill all of your purpose."

Eph 1:3..........."Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ,..."

Mt 6:8............"your Father knows the things you have need of before you ask Him."

Ps 34:10.........."...those who seek the Lord shall not lack any good thing."

Ps 24:1..........."The earth is the Lord's, and all it's fullness,..."

Ps 50:10.........."...every beast of the forest is Mine, and the cattle on a thousand hills."

Gen 18:14........."Is anything too hard for the Lord?"

Mt 7:7............"Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you."

Rom 8:32.........."He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall he not with Him also freely give us all things?"

Ps 37:5..........."Commit your way to the Lord, trust also in Him, and He shall bring it to pass."

Luke 6:38........."Give, and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over will be put into your bosom."

Eph 3:20.........."...(God) is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us..."

Phil 4:19........."And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus."

2Pet 1:3.........."His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him..."

Jer 33:3............."Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and
mighty things, which you do not know."

Jer 32:27........."Behold, I am the Lord, the God of all flesh. Is there anything to hard for Me?"

Mt 11:28.........."Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest."

Heb 13:5.........."For He Himself has said, I will never leave you nor forsake you."
